Jetson Copperhead

OVERVIEW

“Copperhead” was a new electric scooter developed in 2022 at Jetson, a company specializing in the design and sales of advanced electric mobility products, including scooters, motorized bikes, and hoverboards. The concept was inspired by Bauhaus principles—modern, geometric, and highly functional. I contributed to the product development by refining the scooter’s deck pattern and helping to define its concept. We also expanded the target audience to include riders who enjoy high-performance, ambitious riding experiences. Our team managed the entire launch process, from strategy and positioning to creative concept and final execution. Working closely with internal teams across sourcing, marketing, and sales, we successfully brought Copperhead to market both in the U.S. and internationally.

THE STRATEGY

Through consumer research, we identified a need to project a sense of optimism and counter the skepticism that had taken root among riders in the e-mobility space. Copperhead needed to be seen as simple, bold, and functional, but also as a pioneering product that felt elevated, and transformative.
The product strategy was grounded in the Bauhaus spirit, focusing on modern, geometric, and functional design. This foundation guided both the visual direction and the messaging, which centered on the idea of “fearless boldness.” Copperhead was positioned as a reflection of Jetson’s commitment to leading the e-mobility movement with confidence and purpose. The strategy also aligned with Jetson’s brand slogan, “Make Moves,” reinforcing a message of progress and forward-thinking design.

THE SOLUTION

We worked closely with industrial designers and visualizers to shape the overall look and feel of the product. Jetson’s goal was to create a game-changing e-scooter that would redefine e-mobility and contribute to its evolving future.
I led the concept development and designed a unique deck pattern that became a core part of the product identity. Drawing from the Jetson logo, I deconstructed the letter “J” into four geometric forms to create a pattern for the deck that suggests motion and direction. Inspired by Bauhaus principles, the bold, geometric design gives Copperhead a distinct and instantly recognizable presence. It pays homage to Bauhaus while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
The pattern extends across the product, packaging, and manual, creating a unified and immersive brand experience. It works consistently at all scales and was developed as part of a larger visual system aimed at expanding Copperhead’s appeal to a broader consumer base.
The color palette features a rich, rusty brown that echoes the name "Copperhead," paired with a neutral black to ground the design and enhance its bold, contemporary feel.
